It affected my studies. Doctor:Ok. Patient:I have been struggling with Diabetes for the last 16 years. Doctor:It was type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Patient:Yes! Doctor:What were you taking to control Diabetes before surgery? Patient:I took medications for 5-6 years and then my doses were increased. Then I started taking Insulin. Are you taking any medications now? Patient:I am not taking anything from last 4 months. Doctor:No tablets and no insulin? Patient:I didn't need that even once in 4 months. Doctor:How much is your Hba1c now? Patient:Hba1c is 4.8 now. Doctor:From where did you get the test done? Patient:I got it done from Noida. Doctor:Ok. Doctor:You are shifted to Noida now. Patient:Yes! Doctor:How much is your Hba1c now? Patient:It is 4.81 now. Doctor:We can't blame you in your case actually your intestine was absorbing more. We have bypassed your small intestine. Because of bypass, you must have seen oil in stool? Patient:Yes! Doctor:These oil and fat were absorbed before, which you are losing now. Naturally, our intestine is too long which absorbs everything. But we don't want to absorb that much. Because of your problems you were taking many medications and Insulin too. Now we can't say that we have eradicated Diabetes and Hypertriglyceridemia. We have bypassed your intestine. Because of this absorption is decreased but not stopped totally. Patient:Ok. Doctor:Also, we don't want to stop the absorption completely. So, you need to take care of yourself. Be in touch with your medical specialist. As you have told earlier that your need only 1/3rd of lipid lowering drugs now. Now, You don't need any medication for high blood sugar levels. Patient:Yes! Doctor:But keep an eye on your blood sugar levels. As you have explained to me earlier. Patient:I take more proteins and fewer carbohydrates. and at night I avoid carbs. Doctor:Ok. Doctor:Which was more than 11 before surgery? Patient:Yes! Doctor:It is 4.81 now, without any medication. Patient:Yes! without any medicine. My average blood sugar is 91 now, which was 288 before surgery. My fasting blood sugar is 80 now, which used to be around 189 earlier, even after taking medicine. My minimum fasting blood sugar was 149 before surgery. Doctor:Ok. Patient:I got this test done the day before yesterday. Doctor:Your triglyceride levels used to be on the higher side before surgery? Doctor:It was more than 2700 mg/dL, and this was the reason that I got Pancreatitis. Patient:Yes! Doctor:You got it checked now and it is around 400 mg/dL. Patient:Yes! It is around 413 mg/dL. Doctor:Still it is on higher side. Patient:Yes! but I am not taking much medicines for this. Doctor:Ok, You are taking fewer lipid-lowering drugs now as compared to before surgery. Patient:Yes! Before surgery, my Cholesterol is 350-400 mg/dl, which is 200 mg/dl now. Doctor:Basically this disease is Metabolic Syndrome. Doctor:Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions that occur together, caused by more absorption. Doctor:In this we can totally blame you for this, that your diet is not good. But having triglycerides more than 2700 and getting Pancreatitis 3 times subsequently, can not be just because of your faulty diet. If a person drinks too much alcohol, like one bottle in one go, Pancreatitis can occur in that cases. You had Pancreatitis because your pancreatic juice became thick like a paste. You have experienced Pancreatitis. Patient:That was worse. NG tube was inserted, to remove the fluid. Doctor:Yes! Doctor:What we have done inside you? We got this wisdom of surgery from mother nature. For more than 10 hours. But if you were doing the same in the Forests, running behind animals, you would be the same as now, the chances of having a heart attack would be more in your case. Because this is a disease in your case. Patient:Ok. Patient:I take my last meal at around 7:30 pm and If I feel hungry after that I eat fruits. Doctor:Your weight was not too much before surgery, But you lost 16 kg in 4 months. Patient:This 16 Kg weight loss is like magic to me.
